Styling the perfect guest bedroom requires a great deal of attention to get it right. After all, you want your guests to feel welcomed into your home and comfortable during their stay so it’s important to perfect the finer details.

When inviting friends or family to stay, the guest bedroom will be the space that leaves a lasting impression on your guests.

With a little pre-planning and preparation, you can create the perfect guest bedroom that will make you proud to invite people into your home.

1. A high-quality bed matters

A nicely decorated room is going to provide minimal enjoyment to your guests, as it’s the bed that lays the foundation for a good night’s sleep. Investing in a high-quality bed and accompanying mattress is crucial if you want your guests to sleep soundly throughout the night.

It’s wise to spend the majority of your budget on getting the essentials right, and then any remaining cash can be spent on decorative features and fancy additions.

2. Invest in bed linen

When prioritising your guests’ sleep, choosing high-quality bed linen should be at the top of your list. After all, the way you dress the bed is what’s going to enhance its comfortability and aesthetics.

It’s worth the extra money to invest in luxury bed linen made with high-quality cotton as this will not only offer a soft and comfortable place to lay but will also be suitable for those with the most sensitive skin.

Opting for white or light coloured bed linen is always the best option. Whilst this may not appear the most serviceable at first, it’s perfect for reassuring any hesitant guests that the sheets are clean and fresh, as any signs of use will be noticeable.

3. Keep the decoration simple

Decorating a guest bedroom with a loud and busy theme is something that you’ll want to avoid. A guest bedroom needs to cater to the taste of many different people, so it’s best to strip it back and keep things nice and simple.

However, this isn’t to say that you can’t create a stylish guest bedroom. Feel free to bring your own personal style into the space, as it is your own home after all! Although, do reserve self-expression and personal items for other rooms in the home.

It’s recommended to stick to more neutral and subdued tones that will suit all preferences, and add some decorations to make it feel homely. Don’t go too loud with the colours, patterns and textures, and keep knick-knacks to a minimum.

4. Provide plenty of storage space

Whilst this may pose a struggle in smaller spaces, it’s important to keep in mind how much your guests will appreciate a little storage space.

Having a wardrobe, cupboard or even a couple of drawers to unpack their belongings into will help them to feel more comfortable and avoid all of their clothes creasing! Invest in a simple set of drawers or even attach a clothes rail to the wall if you don’t have the room.

Top tip: Make sure you keep any storage spaces completely empty and ready for your guests’ arrival, and ensure they’re made aware that they’re free for them to make use of.

5. Offer a care package

Whilst you may not be a 5* hotel or charging family and friends for their stay, something as simple as offering a care package can go a long way.

Along with providing the basics such as a set of keys, the wifi password and any emergency information, why not put together a little hamper of additional items as a welcome gift? Guests will love extra touches such as toiletries, snacks, books, magazines and maybe even a universal phone charger.

To provide top-class treatment, consider investing in some luxurious bathrobes and blankets to help them unwind comfortably at the end of the day.
